If you have read the stories here, you have encountered these ideas. You have seen the Tonal - the Tonalli - defined quickly as "fate," and the Nagual - the Nahualli - referred to a sorcerer. You may have noticed that the Double-God Xolotl is Quetzalcoatl's Nahualli, and the the jaguar is Tezcatlipoca's Nahualli. The others all have Nahuallis as well; for example, Huitzilopochtli's is a hummingbird. This may not seem to make sense, it may seem as if these Teteo have pet sorcerers in animal form. Not quite.
