Ruler of Mictlan, the Land of the Dead where all those who die ordinary deaths go after they die. Not all the dead go to Mictlan, though. Those who die of the water, for example those who drown, are sent to Tlaloc's special place, called Tlalocan. Those who die in war, on the sacrificial stone, and women who die in childbed go to the House of the Sun, Tonantiuhchan.

Teoyaomiqui is a special death god, assigned to escort warriors and those who've given service to the Tonatiuhchan, the House of the Sun.
