“Florida Lady Found Strangled”

I have a news clipping tucked away somewhere. The clipping is probably
stored in a box in the back of the car. Sorry, that is an inside joke
and I hope I am the only one laughing. The article, four or five short
paragraphs, caught my eye because of the headline. Simple and to the
point it stated “Florida Woman Found Strangled”.
Hah, you thought I made up all those clever titles when in fact I do what every talented writer does. I rip off my colleagues every chance I get. Hoping that the ones I plagiarize are not hacks like me.
The dateline also grabbed my attention. The article was from St. Charles where the murder had occurred. I live not far from St. Charles so I thought initially that the murder was local. There is nothing like a good murder to get me going. Especially when the victim has been strangled or hung or bagged or hacked or whacked or…sorry, I get carried away sometimes.
The article quickly revealed a woman had been found strangled in her motel room. She was from Florida and was in St. Charles taking training as an aerobics instructor. She was found dead, lying on her back between the beds. She had on a robe that was open and she was otherwise nude. Well, she was also wearing pantyhose. The stockings were looped around her neck instead of being worn in the normal manner, so I think that hardly detracts from her nakedness.
It turned out the murder took place in a motel in St. Charles, Illinois which is a posh resort area near Chicago. Darlings, I was disappointed that it was not a local strangulation because I knew that there would be little further coverage. I was quite right. I saw a follow up article about a year later saying the murder was still unsolved and basically rehashing the original details.
Unless you are like me, and of course you all are like me, such
articles hold little interest. They give sanitized accounts of what are
usually lurid sex crimes or sizzling crimes of passion. But like you, I
can fill in the blanks as I read such an article. Visualizing the rape
that proceeds the fatal garroting. How delicious to use your mind to
picture the frantic struggles of a helpless victim as a scarf, stocking
or strong fingers slowly chokes her life away.
I was fortunate
enough to be around in the early sixties when Albert DeSalvo was
terrorizing the Boston area. By the way, I hope I burst no bubbles to
reveal I have some age on me. The articles or news broadcasts always
provided minimal information about the more gruesome aspects of the
murders. These were horrific sex crimes that became more brutal with
each additional victim.
In 1968 I read a book about the Boston Strangler that provided the details of each of the strangulation murders and the one stabbing. The stuff that the mainstream news would or could not report was laid out in lovely detail in this marvelous book. To give an example, one of the victims had semen dripping from her gaping mouth. News stories might mention some vague sexual assault but those accounts never had semen dripping from anywhere.
Also, Albert liked to finish the job with a nice bow tied under the victim’s chin. Although he used nylon stockings to strangle most of his victims, he did stab one woman to death. He then looped a stocking around her neck that was tied with the usual bow. This allowed police to tie (pun intended) him to that crime even though the woman had not been strangled. In his first strangulation he used the belt of a robe and again the bow was the link to subsequent murders. Police withheld this item in order to cull pretenders.
Yes, my darlings I know I am rambling. The point is we know nothing of the poor woman from Florida except that she was strangled to death. We know the killer used the victim’s pantyhose for a weapon. Sanitary, straightforward and, from my point of view, pretty dull.
Now was I a reporter and going to write such a story I would dig out the facts. Yes, if I were to write such a story.......hmmmmm…..let me think……

Florida woman, Ima Tart was found brutally and most deliciously
strangled to death in her motel room. A maid discovered her body early
this morning. The medical examiner for Hardon County said a pair of the
victims pantyhose were still knotted tightly around the victim’s
throat.
In a fitting bit of irony the pantyhose that the killer tightened ever so slowly around the lovely Ima’s neck were Hanes Alive. The pantyhose were nude and so was the victim. Actually she was wearing her bathrobe in addition to the pantyhose but the robe had been thrown open exposing poor Ima’s beautiful, unclothed body.
Ima Tart was from Tallahassee and was taking training as an aerobics instructor and personal trainer (read that happy fingers gal in my book) at the posh Slocum Pocum Resort in St. Charles. Sources at the club say Ima Tart was last seen alive with the owner’s son. Letme Pocum, is a registered sex offender currently on probation thanks to Slocum’s paying off local judge Dewey Cheatem.
The medical examiner told this reported that Ms Tart had what appeared to have been consensual sex with her killer prior to death.
“Ms Tart’s mouth was just dripping with semen and her blond pussy was full up too. Her tongue was stuck so far out of her mouth it reminded me of those cow tongues mamma used to put in the bean soup. Boy, you should have seen her eyes. They were almost as big around as her knockers were. I haven’t seen a set of boobs like that since the Coroner’s Convention in Chicago last spring.”
Once I got the coroner calmed down again he told this reporter that Ima was apparently getting ready to relieve herself after intercourse (actually he said she was going off to pee) when her erstwhile lover pounced. He indicated that judging by the marks on her neck the strangler loosened and tightened the ligature as the poor woman fought like a tiger. Hanes Alive 1 Ima Tart 0. She did eventual relieve herself in the end as she was found lying in a puddle of urine.
Quoting our beloved ME again, “The perp really tugged those stockings snug. That girls neck looked like a possum squashed on I-94.”
The maid who found the body said she saw a man fitting the
description of Letme Pocum leave the victim’s room shortly before the
maid found the body. Fortunately Letme has an airtight (pun again
intended LOL) alibi. In a statement to this reporter he said, “I have
an airtight alibi. Also that slut hotel maid better remember there’s
more than one pair of Hane’s Alive pantyhose in this town. In fact,
Miss Tina, I believe you’re wearing Hanes Alive.” This reporter thought
it was nice of Letme to notice my great legs.
At this time, or
any other time for that matter, the sheriff’s department has no leads
in the brutal strangulation sex murder of poor Ima Tart. This results
not only from the general incompetence of the department but also the
fact they spend way too much time showing this voluptuous reporter the
back of the squad cars (what’s that all about anyway?). Besides there’s
one deputy who couldn’t find his you know what with his you know whats.

“Hey, Mort,” Tina says as she drops the story on the copy editor’s desk, “I got the strangler story ready. Be a dear and clean it up for me. Letme Pokum is taking me out for a drink. He says he can show me something interesting about the murder.”
Mort watched Tina’s lovely ass sway out the door. Her high heels made a rhythmic click clack sound on the tile as she went. She was wearing a pair of navy Hanes Alive pantyhose and Mort thought her legs looked great.
......Yes, darlings, if I were writing the stories they would be fantastic!
