Sleepless Poetry

I have some poems I wrote. I save them for stories, when I don't steal from Keats. But I've been sitting here having a bagel and I thought I'd post something. Just Because.

I have a pet. But it's not a real one, it's just a goldfish. Pretty lame. Here is a poem I wrote for him. I don't think I'll ever need a goldfish poem in any of the stories I write. At least around here.

The Goldfish

Fragile glass and giant tear,
Define the lens and disappear,
Magical and secretly,-
A moment lost in mystery;
While my heart with urgent beat,
Strains against the night to meet,
I press my lips to mirror'd gaze,
And in that touch the cold betrays:
How distant must our worlds seem,-
Thine of tears and mine of dreams;
Escape! I cry in lonely night,
Seek my love, that splendid light,
Promised thee with child eyes,
Remember'd still in golden guise.

And this one is really short. I like 4 line poems a lot. Brevity is something I struggle with. That's probably why I liked being Plagiarist so much. This one is just kind of a lonely poem. I didn't name it.

how weary is the evening
how like my heart this day
the chill of lonely moonlight
when the sun is gone away

And lastly, this one is about me. I like the duality of the individual theme. I use it a lot in my stories. This one I would probably use in a story, so maybe you'll see it again. Maybe not. No title for this one either. Ahhhhh...I changed my mind, I'll give you my "hate poem instead. But I didn't give it a title either. "The Hate Poem" was just too obvious.

I hate you
and you
and that guy too
and going to the zoo
and a too tight shoe
and the flu
and all you do
No...I take that back...
I like the zoo.
But not you.

So there's 3 poems. I think all good things come in three's. The Chinese think that too. The luckiest Chinese number is 27 (that's 3 3's 3 times). The 27th was my birthday too. Kind of a coincidence, but not much of one.

I hope you liked these. Have a nice day.
