I never got further than the first chapter. I had originally started this for a friend and he kindly told me that it was not quite what he had in mind. I say kindly because if he had let me do all the work of continuing and never told me he wasn't enjoying it, that would have been much worse. So it sat, forgotten in some lost directory somewhere until an idea occured to me. Why not post the story and see if someone else would like to write the next chapter? Why not let several people contribute chapters and see where the story leads?
So we come to this point. I have written the first chapter of what may one day be a memorable series. I am soliciting from you, the readers, the subsequent chapters. If you feel inspired to continue with this story line by all means do so. Write your chapter and I will put it on the web as the next in a series (with credit of course).
There are a few ground rules that must be followed though so as to preserve the spirit of the exercise. Obviously the main character must not be killed off or permanently maimed. As a character he must not evolve too fast (if he was naively inoccent in the last chapter, he can't suddenly become Simon Templar in the next). Each chapter must resolve itself somehow (don't paint the next fellow into a corner) and leave a discernable way for the next writer to continue the story.
The 'hero' (who does not yet have a name, suggestions?) is a reasonably tall fellow, good looking, well built and in good shape. He has dabbled in all sorts of sporting activities but concentrated in none. He has a degree in liberal arts and is the orphaned only child of wealthy parents. He has enough money to not need to work.
I welcome your comments as well as your submittions. I would especially
welcome any comments or advice on what I have written (or omitted to write)
on this page in terms of guidelines.
