Hitwoman Chronicles chapter 3: Pat and Julia

Stephanie drove her car back to her home and was surprised to find that Pat's car was not there. She took the day's mail inside with her as she went. She looked through the letters and threw them all but one on the kitchen table. She opened the one addressed to her.
"An invitation to a Labor Day party at Steve's. I might just take him up on that when I get done. I'll probably need to leave town anyway." said Stephanie.
She went to the refrigerator and stopped short when she saw a note fastened on the door by a magnet.
"Went to Mother's. Meet me there. Have bad news. Pat." read Stephanie.
She stamped her foot as she let out a grunt.
"Leave it to Pat to mess up my plans. Here I was prepared to spend the wildest night of my life with him then pump him full of lead, but no he has to run home to Mommy. I guess I'll just have to bump them off together." said Stephanie angrily.
Stephanie went into the bedroom. She reloaded her empty clips and opened a chest at the end of the bed. Her light blue eyes widened when she saw an array of weapons.
"Ooo, lots of new toys to play with." cooed Stephanie.
She pulled out couple of sheaths full of chinese throwing stars, a full set of throwing knives. She tucked the sheathes into her coat pockets and her smile broadened when she saw what was on the bottom of the chest, two small pistol sized collapsing crossbows.
"Perfect." said Stephanie with a wicked smile.
She took off her coat and put on the twin shoulder holsters that held the crossbows, then put the crossbows in the holsters. She put her coat back on and left the house without even bothering to lock the door still fuming over her upset plans. By the time she finished the five minute drive to Julia's house Stephanie was nearing her boiling point. Pat's truck was out front and Julia's car was parked in the driveway, but no one else was there. Stephanie loaded the crossbows, put them back in the holsters, then went up to the house. Pat opened the door and let her in. He was a tall broad shouldered man with short cut brown hair, lighter blue eyes than Stephanie's, and a polite manner that hid his true nature. He was dressed in a tight light blue t-shirt and jeans. He was a little heavier than he liked, but Stephanie didn't mind and with his shirt tucked into his pants she could just make out the outline of his quarter sized navel. Julia sat in the living room. She was a short woman with shoulder length brown hair and a gentle disposition. Stephanie could tell that she had been crying. Her tight red blouse and jean skirt were about a size too small, but she wore them anyway. In the bright light of the living room Stephanie saw the indent in her blouse that showed her huge navel.
"Stephi, I've got some bad news. Heidi's dead." said Pat.
He never had been one to beat around the bush. Stephanie slumped down onto the couch with a low sigh.
"Oh honey, I've just had a killer day." said Stephanie with a slight smile.
Pat's eyes widened as he backed away from Stephanie and Julia looked confused. Julia had no idea what was going on, but Pat knew that his wife had snapped and the fear showed in his eyes. Stephanie pulled out the crossbows and took careful aim with both. Shump. Shump. Julia was thrown back against the back of her chair while Pat stumbled back against the wall. Both had crossbow bolts stuck in their belly buttons.
"Stephanie! Why?" Julia gasped as Stephanie stood.
Stephanie put her crossbows up and pulled out her nine millimeter. Pfft. Julia's head snapped back as a bullet hit between her eyes. Her head came to rest on the back of her chair and she sat there motionless with her eyes staring blankly at the ceiling.
"Now that we've got the old battle axe out of the way, I want you to know just how disappointed I am. I came home from a thrilling day of fulfilling my deepest darkest fantasies wanting nothing more to fuck until the wee hours of the morning, or until I got bored and put a couple of slugs in your gut only to find you gone." said Stephanie as she walked over to Pat.
"Stephi it was you?" gasped Pat, more in disbelief than pain
"You know that was the same look that Heidi got on her face after I gut shot her. She couldn't believe it either."
Pat shook his head when Stephanie tucked the barrel of her gun down in the front of his pants.
"Stephi don't!" pleaded Pat.
Pfft. Pfft. Pfft. Pat screamed with each shot and tried to bend over, which made Stephanie notice for the first time that he was impaled to the wall by the crossbow bolt in his gut. Stephanie pulled the gun out of his pants and stepped back.
"Oh well I guess we won't be fucking anymore, so what use are you?" asked Stephanie.
Pfft. Pat's head bounced off the wall when a bullet hit just above his left eyebrow. His head sagged against his chest as he slumped against the bolt. Pat and Julia were both dead.
"I'm off to find more victims. You two don't go anywhere now." joked Stephanie as she left the two fresh corpses
