"Fuck you."

Amanda considered that. "It's a deal," she said.

She was just bloody impossible. Belinda felt an obscure urge to smile. "Not going to happen,"
she said.

"Oh, come on, it'll be fun!"

The sex, or hunting and eating me? Belinda wondered. She knew what Amanda would say.
Either or both.

"Dont tell me you're not tempted?" Amanda teased playfully.

Belinda almost stopped to think about it That way lies madness, she decided. "Forget it."

Amanda made an affable gesture. "Okay. Give me a hand with the serving out, then?"

It was impossible to refuse, it would have been boorish, like a guest who refused to help
wash up. "All right." Besides, she didn't want the company of her former colleagues.

Carol's body was heavy, though Amanda carried most of her weight without apparent effort.
Between them they deposited her on a table and Amanda pulled the spit out. The roasted
woman looked...what? Belinda tried to define her reaction to the sight.

Natural, she realised. She looks just fine. It suits her. Is that how...? She caught Amanda's
eye for a second, a fleeting smile on the Huntress's face.

Yes. She can read minds.

"Not really," Amanda said. "How are you at carving?"

Belinda demurred. "No, thanks," she said. "I'd just make a mess of it. Of her...." and it wasn't
an excuse. She wouldn't have minded carving Carol up if she'd felt she could do it well.

"Oh, good enough," Amanda said. "For a minute there I considered doing the Snoopy joke.
You know, 'These people eat BUNNIES!' Shame on me"

Belinda felt her intellect struggling to catch up. "What?"

"Oh, I'm sure you'll get there. What's your fancy? Get it while it's hot..."

What, me, eat a person? Oh, what the fuck, why not? "Everything looks wonderful," she said,
attempting an ironic detachment she didn't feel. "You pick me something out."

Amanda nodded. "Fair enough. Just nip up to the cabin, will you? Change the record. I put
the speakers outside but the console's still in there."

"What do you want?"

"Led Zep.' In Through the Out Door'."

Belinda complied, and brought out more beer and wine besides. She was going to need it
and she was pretty sure everybody else would.
