Sally sat alone in a small room. It wasn't very well lit and Sally hoped that she was alone. She felt tape binding her wrists to the arms of her chair and she sat helpless. Sally was a fairly small young woman with long sandy blonde hair, big green eyes, and a warm gentle smile. Although she was a woman in her early twenties Sally was a retired cop. The reason that she retired at such an early age was also the reason that she was sitting, a bullet that was still lodged in her lower spine. There wasn't a day that went by since she had been shot that she didn't look down at her useless legs and curse her own misfortune. The door to the room opened and let in a little light around the silohuette of a man.
"What do you want? Why am I here?" Sally asked.
"What I want is to finish my job. I missed the first time and you survived." a man's voice said.
"What do you mean?" Sally asked.
"You've been living off the generosity of the tax payers since my first bullet hit you in the back six months ago. Now it's time to get you off the payroll." he answered.
"You! You did this to me?" Sally asked angrily.
"Yes, I will say one thing for you Officer Garret, you were a good cop."
"Maybe too good?" Sally asked.
"Perhaps. You were just getting too close to finding out the truth so I was hired to get you out of the way." he said.
Sally winced as she saw a weapon in his hand.
"A crossbow at this range?" Sally asked.
"Don't worry Sally it will be quick and easy right through the heart."
Shomp. Sally was bent over in her wheel chair as the bolt pierced her belly just above her navel. She heard the tip of the bolt tear through the fabric at the back of her wheel chair but that didn't help it hurt any less. The force of the impact sent her wheelchair careening back into the wall pinning the young woman there wheelchair and all.
"Oooohh...If I'm such a good cop...why did they hire a...hitman that's such a lousy shot?" Sally gasped.
The door closed and Sally sat there helpless in her wheel chair shot through the middle and bleeding profusely.
