Blondies: Part 5

Then the lights go out. "Did she shoot me in the head," I wonder. Kathy shoves me. I hear a "Thump! Ping!" and my arm jerks and burns.

With the dim red light from the emergency exit sign over the door, I see the last Blondie with a sound surpressed pistol. There are a flurry of thump pings from Blondie and Kathy's weapons.

The overhead lights go back on. A dead or dying Blondie is sliding down a bullet scarred wall, her outreached arm flicking the overhead lights on in her death throes. Brain goo is splattered on the wall behind her. "Yeah, Kathy!" I yell.

I turn at look at her. Bright blood pours from my love's wounds. One hole is low in her formerly perfect stomach, one is higher up in her chest. I have been shot as well, in the upper arm, but I don't matter.

I run to Kathy. Her wounds look bad. Pink foam is coming out of her mouth. She struggles to sit up, and fails.

"Take me with you," I beg.

"I don't think I am gong to make it to the hospital," Kathy says, managing a laugh. She looks at me, suddenly understanding what I mean. She lifts up her knife and I nod.

I lay down next to her, and put my arms around her, leaving a space between our bellies for the knife.
Kathy smiles at me, and pushes the knife in.

It hurts. I wince. I force my eyes open, my gift to my lover. Dying makes me brave. "I love you," I whisper. I look into her beautiful chocolate eyes as I feel my heart flutter.

Kathy grins at me; blood flows from her mouth. She coughs, then pulls me firmly into her. The knife scrapes deeper, and I am done.
