"The Chair, Part C"

Dr. Graham McGuire, Ph.D. in Physics, Psychology and Biology hasn't changed much in 11 years. He could be a startlingly attractive man … his abundant silvery hair glinting in the lights, his tanned healthy body perfectly erect in the suit cut to show his well toned body. But his face, though handsome, mars his attractiveness. There is hauteur there, and an utter contempt for every living thing on the planet. And his smile could still scare a CIA hitman into a fit … it has all the warmth of a grave.

"Ladies and gentlemen please take your seats, tonight's demonstration is about to begin," he intones in a voice just slightly colored by his native Aberdeen. "For those new comers among you, I will now explain how The Chair works … and what it does. Our repeat guests, please be patient … the show will soon begin."

Stephanie starts swearing and cursing again and McGuire casually slaps her across the face, stuffing a ball gag into her mouth when she starts to yell at him.

"Now that the distraction is done with … let me start again. The Chair is my pride and joy … a true multiuse tool, though I will admit that this is my favorite use of its abilities. I'll not go into all the applications The Chair can have; suffice to say that almost any sort of modification to the human mind can be made with this device. But in this application … well lets just say the changes to our young friends mind will be permanent."

This draws a smattering of laughter from the audience, and a hateful look from Stephanie.

"You see, with ASP technology, you can feed any sensory data you want directly into the human mind … from pleasant to horrific. Because it's a direct feed it can't be ignored … especially at the amplitudes we send our data."

He reaches up to touch the modified ASP helmet, continuing his little monologue.

"And seeing as our friend here is what the press calls a stealthjack, she will find it even harder to resist images and physical sensations … for we will pump the same image, and the same sensations, over every single one of her multiple input pathways. A little irony I learned a few years back is that while stealthjacks have the best ASP interfaces that exist, they are also the most vulnerable to certain aspects of that same computer technology."

Take a guess which stealthjack he made his discovery on.

"Now while I'm sure you see the entertaining aspects of pumping any image we desire straight into this young woman's brain … there is another aspect to The Chair which will make this evening everything you have heard about."

"You see something I discovered in my initial investigations is that the electromagnetic inputs of the ASP helmet can cancel out other sources of electric input … but only to the areas it protects. Just as a stealthjack can have his or her brain fried by an overload to the ASP system, so can that same ASP system protect them from another electric shock from a different source."

This drew more excited whispers from some of the crowd … the people new to this show I assume.

"Ahhh I can see you understand the implications; a person hooked up to this system, who also has a similar system protecting their heart, can stand up to a massive amount of electricity before taking any truly life threatening damage. Oh they will feel every single volt of it … it is no less painful than it would be. But unlike a normal electric shock … the brain and the heart will not shut down easily."

He turned, and casually ran his hand down Stephanie's body. "In fact a healthy human being, like our young friend here, can take almost 10 times the voltage it requires to kill a unprotected person." I noticed that he was licking his lips, and that a strange shine had begun to show in his eyes.

"Can you imagine it? Thousands of volts racing through her body … tearing and ripping at her nerves, sending searing waves of pain through every cell of her body. Her muscles may clench so hard they rip from the bone … yet there is no release. Her internal organs, excepting the heart, may convulse, burst, shutdown … yet there is no release. The pain would normally send anyone into instant shock … perhaps even shut the brain down … yet there is no release."

He's breathing heavily now … as are many members of the crew and audience.

"There is indeed a final limit … a point where the damage to the nerves of the body is so great that signals can longer get to the heart. And of course, sometimes the body actually begins to cook from the shear level of power surging through it. This will cause veins to burst … if that happens in the heart or the brain … well it's all over. But that doesn't happen all that often."

"Now imagine that each of these increasingly powerful and painful shocks is accompanied by images of horror, smells, sounds and physical sensations that would make a coroner ill."

He pauses for dramatic effect.

"Think about it my friends … think of what she will have to endure to reach the end of this session … our entertainment. She will endure pain that would literally kill the toughest of men … and accompanying this agony will be assaults to her senses that could easily drive you mad with fear and disgust."

I can see a massive hard on pressing against his zipper … and several of the audience members are surreptitiously touching themselves or their dates.

"But you will be amazed just how long our young friend here will last … and how coherent she will be. She will be able to beg and plead and cry for mercy right up to the very end."

He then turns and points to one of his techs.

The tech bends down under the chair and flips a switch. There is a low purring sound and then Stephanie's muffled cries go from anger and fear to an outraged pain. I quickly flip though my available views and see that a shaft of metal, roughly shaped like a dildo, is slowly forcing its way into Stephanie's tight buttocks. I can she her trying to move, humping up a bit, trying to keep it out, but the relentless machine can't be resisted and eventually the 8' shaft is buried to the hilt in her ass.

I can hear a smattering of excited whispers and chuckles from the audience as the cameras give them a close up view of the process.

"Of course any two points on the body will do for our purposes … but this," McGuire says, picking up a second metal dildo, " is much more satisfying and gratifying for entertainment, don't you think?" And with that, he carefully shoves the second steel dong deep into Stephanie's exposed and vulnerable pussy.

Dr. McGuire and the tech then hook up two slim cables to each dildo. The wire is thin, yet I can see it is a heavy-duty cable … easily able to handle 10's of thousands of volts. Then they attach a clamping device to each one … so that her convulsions will not "shoot" the dildos out of her body.

Stephanie has her face set in stone … trying to deny these people the pleasure they are seeking. But despite her best efforts I can see a single tear spill down her cheek as these men casually violate her for their entertainment.

Next they take the coils I saw earlier, and place them over her heart, hooking up the remaining cables to them. This must be the system that protects her heart.

They then lower the ASP helmet over her face. It has been heavily modified. For one thing it is much beefier than a normal rig … its wires and systems of a much heavier gauge, no doubt to survive multiple high voltage shocks. It also has been modified so that her face is exposed. It would have taken a major redesign to get the helmet to work without surrounding the entire head. The techs here have pushed the edge of technology … just so that everyone here can have an unobstructed view of the victim's face.

Stephanie is starting to breathe heavier now … the fear of what she knows is to come overwhelming her courage.

Dr. McGuire pulls the ball gag from Stephanie's mouth, and then steps back. Stephanie clenches her teeth together, breathing fast, her face set to try to deny what these folks want. I'm really beginning to like this girl.

But I can't let that distract me … for this is the moment I've waited for. McGuire steps to the master switch and turns the system on. It will take the ASP several minutes to set up and load the massive program it will take to run so complicated a balancing act … and this gives me my one and only opportunity. If I go too late the program will be running and it may be too late to change it … but I can't start to reprogram it unless it's switched on.

I split my concentration … keeping half my "channels" in the room in case something develops, I use the other half to dive into the ASP control program for The Chair. I'm not going to get fancy … I'm not going to try any tricks … I'll just reprogram the damn thing to send the maximum charge in one massive blast straight through the poor girls' brain. No protection, no images … just one massive flash and that will be it … instant death.

But damn … God damn it all!! The damn thing is not connected to the power source for the chair! I move as fast as I can, dozens of sensors and inquiry's running simultaneously … it must be here some where!

And then I find it … and I feel my heart fall. I can't do it … I can't effect the pattern of shocks that the chair delivers. It's not even a computer system … it's a simple mechanical device. A timer moves a heavy arm that connects to a series of capacitors, each with a larger and larger power load. I find in the ASP control program the reason for this. Having the two tied together was causing exactly what I had in mind. Every so often a feedback loop would disable the ASP and the "patient" (their word, not mine) would receive a full charge with no protection … instant death. So they separated them.

Maybe I can just sabotage the ASP … fry her neurons so that she will be a vegetable and not feel anything? But no … this rig has massive anti-feed back systems hard wired right into the helmet itself … again an attempt to prevent a feedback loop from letting the "patient" die too quickly.

About the only thing I can do for her is to turn off the ASP program that projects the horrifying sensory data and protects her heart and brain. But that still means about 10 or so very painful shocks before the current becomes anywhere near heavy enough to kill her. Damn it!!

Then I get a sudden flash … if I can't prevent the pain … maybe I can counter it? I quickly scan the program, and find the codes that control the shock protection system. These I turn off, as well as the sensory system with its grab bag of mind numbing horror. I don't bother to look but I do make a copy of the images in case somebody decides to check on what she will be seeing.

Then I reprogram the system. It's complicated, and I have to read schematics of it while at the same time reprogram several thousands lines of code … even for me it's a challenge. I pull all my attention away from the room, putting everything I have into it. The worse thing is I don't have time to run a system check (they'd spot that anyway as the ASP helmet suddenly powered up) to see if this will work.

But what do I do for sensory data? I didn't bring anything … all the room in my system is taken up with the programs I used to get in here. What can I …………….

Well … that will certainly work … and it will be easy for me. The only problem is that my own ASP is set on full mode … no protection at all. Can I stand up to the level of feedback I will get?

I really don't have time to debate it with myself. It won't be anywhere near as effective without some sort of appropriate sensations to go with it … oh hell … sometimes I really hate this job.

I return to my "virtual room", leaving only a single pathway back to the ASP's imaging program … tying it's projection system directly to my own visualization system. Now she will see/feel/taste/smell/hear what I want her to.

I find I've return just in time. Dr. McGuire has gone to his own seat, and the crew has taken up seats around the stage. Dr. McGuire is looking at a panel in front of him … and after a minute of two, he nods. I place my image so that I'm sitting on the arm of The Chair, looking down on Stephanie's helpless body. Then I alter it, so that my clothes disappear … leaving me naked by her side.

"Very well then ladies and gentlemen … if we are all comfortable, my panels indicate the capacitors are all charged and the ASP is warmed up and ready to begin. Shall we start?"

There is a chorus of nods and half whispered agreements … everyone's attention is focused on the girl, spread and expose for their jaded entertainment.

McGuire smiles a terrible grin, and then he turns a key, quickly moving his hand off to prevent any possible shocks. There is a loud hum as the ASP goes to full power, and then a small click as the first capacitor starts to discharge.
