As the Captain's saber fell and Myriel's body jumped with the sharp report of the rifles, her startled eyes opened wide as she looked down. The ragged holes in the little square of muslin the Doctor had pinned over her heart and growing stain of crimson that soaked her left breast only confirmed what she already knew as she looked back up and stared into the eyes of her executioners.
The bastards had ruined her new blouse!
