My first story, and the picture that inspired it(and can't be seperated).

She entered the small arena and faced her opponent. They were then blindfolded, the assitants left, and there was a loud, disorienting noise that allowed them both to quickly take positions unknown to the other. The wounds they suffered the previous day were already treated and it was as if they were never there, but the points they cost meant that in order to win, both she and her opponent had to go for the maximum score this round; a difficult feat that would inflict one of the few injuries that, even today, could not be healed. She manouvered silently, ready to dodge or strike within a split second of hearing something other than the quiet breathing of the audience. Then she heard her opponent's step; the sound told her much about her positioning and she swung her sword horizontally, but it hit nothing; she quickly dodged and managed to get out of range without making a sound. A few tense seconds passed. Then she felt a horrible pain in her neck and before realising, her head spun in a way she has never before experienced and hit the ground. The audience roared.
