A Last Cigarette: Honor Among Thieves

Carol and Teri sat at a table in the old warehouse. They had eluded the cops and were waiting for their partner, Gunsmoke, who had the diamonds.
They had just robbed a delivery to the Diamond District in Philly. They made it across the bridge into Jersey and they made it back to their hideout.
The robbery didn't go off without a hitch though. Both armored car guards were killed by Teri when they tired to resist and Carol had to kill an off duty cop who was just on her way home. The gang had to split up.
This made Teri anxious. She didn't want the money out of her sight. But Gunsmoke had the briefcase. It was either chance getting caught and take it off of him or make a break for it. Teri knew she could always catch up to Gunsmoke later.
They sat smoking and quiet. They were nervous about Gunsmoke. Carol and Teri were partners for years. But Gunsmoke was a loose cannon. He was new. Teri didn't trust him. Carol knew she could. Gunsmoke was in love with her. He'd do anything for her. He was only involved with this robbery to be with her. But that didn't make Teri sit any easier.
"I tell you he won't be able to find a hole deep enough to hide from me" snapped Teri as she lit another cigarette.
"Relax. He'll be here. He's just cautious. You don't want him bringing any friends back do you" assured Carol.
"Maybe that's what he IS doing" barked Teri.
"He turns us in gets the reward and…" explained Teri but was cut off when she heard a noise.
Both women were seasoned pros. They were up and had their guns in hand immediately. They ready themselves behind the table.
They saw Gunsmoke walk in carrying the briefcase.
Carol relaxed and stood up. Teri remained behind the table for a moment waiting to see if he was really alone.
"Get up" snapped Carol and Teri slowly rose from behind the table with her gun still in hand.
"I lost them," said Gunsmoke with a big grin.
"Good" purred Carol as she walked over to him.
He put his arms around her and held her tight. He began to kiss her hard on the lips. He was lost in her. The smell of her perfume, her hair made his head spin. He couldn't hold her close enough.
Carol pushed him away.
"Let's see" she purred to him.
Gunsmoke put the brief case on the table and opened it. The glare was blinding. The report said 2 million but that was just for the insurance. It was only 1.6 million in diamonds.
The three of them stared at the pile of glittering gems.
Now it was Teri's turn to get excited. She was practically wet thinking of this much money.
Teri turned to Carol and motioned for her to back up, which she did.
As Gunsmoke looked at his bright future, his partners were planning on cutting it short.
Teri and Carol took out their guns and got behind Gunsmoke.
"So do we do the spilt now? What a million six dived by three" asked Gunsmoke with his back to his killers.
"Yeah we split right now. We get the diamonds and you get the lead" sneered Teri.
Gunsmoke spun around but saw both women had the drop on him.
"Hands up" ordered Teri.
Gunsmoke slowly put his hands up.
"Carol are you in on this" he asked in a disbelieving voice.
She just silently nodded her head.
"And we were going to get married" he sneered at her.
"Yeah tough break, lover boy. Next time try "Love Connection" laughed Teri.
"Enough of this crap. Carol snuff him," said Teri coldly.
"Me" asked Carol.
"Hell, he's your "boyfriend". Break up with him" joked Teri.
Carol looked at Gunsmoke and at her gun. She knew double crossing Gunsmoke meant he had to die but she never really thought about killing him. She guessed it had to be done.
"Carol, please don't" begged Gunsmoke.
"For Christ's sake plug him. A million six divided by two is…." asked Teri.
Carol raised her gun.
"Wait don't I get a last cigarette" asked Gunsmoke.
"Jeez" sighed Teri as she flipped her half-smoked cigarette at his feet and he picked it up.
"I'm not wasting a whole smoke on you. You don't deserve it, besides you won't live long enough to finish it," said Teri as a smile crossed her lips.
"Do him now" ordered Teri.
"Wait Carol why is she making you do it? She'll have this over you your whole life" explained Gunsmoke in a desperate attempt to stall.
"For God's sake, just kill him. Be sure you empty your gun into him. I want to make sure he's dead," said Teri coldly.
Carol was confused. She was starting to realize that maybe she had feelings for Gunsmoke. He also made sense. Teri was the trigger happy one. Why didn't she kill Gunsmoke herself?
Teri impatiently lit a cigarette.
"To-DAAYY" she snapped at Carol.
Carol looked at her.
"Why don't you kill him?" asked Carol suspiciously.
"For cryin' out loud" snapped Teri as she raised her gun and shot Gunsmoke in the belly.
"Happy" said Teri sarcastically.
The bullet tore into Gunsmoke's belly. He staggered back a step. He saw the blood flowing from his fingers in his vain attempt to stop the bleeding.
"Now finish it. Empty the gun into him and let's go" ordered Teri.
Carol knew it was now too late. Gunsmoke was as good as dead now. Any chance she had with him died with Teri's bullet.
Carol now only thought of ending Gunsmoke's pain as she watched him stagger back to the wall and lean against it.
She saw a look of pain on his face. She wasn't sure if the bullet or her deception caused the pained look. And neither did Gunsmoke. It was six of one, a half dozen of the other.
Carol put six quick slugs into Gunsmoke's belly and chest. He slumped to the floor. A pool of blood quickly spread under him.
Carol walked over to him. She sadly looked down at him. He really did love her she thought. He treated her well and looked out for her. Would she ever find a man like this again, she thought.
"Did you empty the gun in him?" asked Teri.
Carol did not turn around. She only nodded her head yes.
"Good" said Teri as she raised her gun.
Teri put two hot lead slugs into Carol's back.
"Divided by one…well you do the math" explained Teri.
Carol turned around and two more bullets fired into her belly. She went down almost on top of Gunsmoke.
Teri watched Carol go still and smiled a big smile.
The loot was now all hers.
She looked at it again transfixed. It was beautiful. This was the best sex she ever had. She enjoyed killing and getting all the money to boot made her orgasm. She stopped to light a cigarette.
She blew out a thick stream of smoke and leaned over the diamonds.
She began to hug the case.
On the floor, Carol struggled to sit up. She was dying. She knew it. She wanted to take Teri with her, make her pay, but her damn gun was empty. Teri was pretty clever she thought.
A gun was put in her hand.
Gunsmoke put his gun in her hand. She was bad off but he was worse. If anybody had a chance to nail Teri, it was Carol.
Gunsmoke smiled at her. It was a warm smile. Carol knew she was starting to cry. Not from pain or fear but from the loss she knew she'd missed out with Gunsmoke.
This spurred her on. She raised the gun and shot once.
From the angle the bullet tore through Teri's left lung and knicked her heart.
She hugged the case tighter. Her face buried in the diamonds.
This can't be happening she thought. She planned and schemed. It wasn't fair damn it! She can't die now she's rich. She can start a new life and live the way she always wanted to.
Another bullet tore into Teri. This one went directly into her heart. She died quickly on the table. Her weight caused her to fall from the table. The case still firmly in her arms.
She hit the floor and the case spilled on top of her. She was blanketed in diamonds. She finally had all she ever wanted.
Carol looked at Gunsmoke and he at her. He took her hand and squeezed it and she squeezed back. They both hands went limp. In the end Carol and Gunsmoke both got what they really wanted too.
