Halle's Audition

Shadowman,

I am in the Beverly Hills Hotel as I write this post. Very expensive joint for a country boy like me. Do you believe they drove me in a limo just to get some grub at McDonald's? That's pretty good service if you ask me. I'll bet this is going to cost at least $75 a day. But this is where Halle wanted to audition so I guess I should be willing to spend twice as much as that to make her happy.

Anyhow, I tossed together a scene for her to use during the audtion. It's posted after this note to you. Too bad you aren't here, but I'll play your part and mine for now.

I'll keep you posted.

FADE IN

EXT. THE COAST OF A CARIBBEAN ISLAND - DAY

A painting that moves: billowy white clouds linger on the horizon like soft cushions waiting for God to sit. A solitary pelican dives for food. Foaming surf grasps the sun-drenched sand slipping away to reveal the nude body of a young woman lying face up on the sand. This is NECROS, the most beautiful woman in the Caribbean. As the surf moves in again it lolls her body, almost picking it up. She undulates in the water and then settles as the water recedes,.

We hear jogging footsteps and the excited, panting voice of CHUCK CREW

CHUCK CREW'S VOICE

Did she just undulate?

We hear the equally excited, panting voice of SHADOWMAN

SHADOWMAN’S VOICE

Damn right she did!

Now we hear the jogging footsteps shift to an all out sprint as the surf once again plays with NECROS’ body.

We see the men race to her side.

CHUCK CREW

Is she dead?

SHADOWMAN reaches down and squeezes a breast.

SHADOWMAN

No pulse. She’s dead.

CHUCK CREW

What a shame. So young and so beautiful.

SHADOWMAN

She looks a lot like the Halle Berry doesn’t she? A stunning woman.

CHUCK CREW

Yeah, right. Say, you think we ought to get the cops in on this?

SHADOWMAN (staring at NECROS’ body)

No, I think YOU ought to go get the cops in on this. I’ll stay with her body.

SHADOWMAN tries to pick her up, but struggles with the lifeless beauty.

SHADOWMAN

Give me a hand before you go.

CHUCK CREW helps him lift NECROS. They carry her from the surf and place her in the shade of bushes twenty yards inland.

CHUCK CREW

You sure she’s dead?

He licks her breasts, nibbles a nipple.

CHUCK CREW

You’re right: no pulse.

SHADOWMAN

Told ya. Now go get the cops - and take your time.

CHUCK CREW smiles knowingly and nods.

CHUCK CREW

Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.

He leaves.

Our musical theme, The Impossible Dream, begins.

The VOICE of RICHARD KILEY sings.

VOICE

To dream the impossible dream.....

and as the lyric is sung, Shadowman begins the realization his impossible dream.
