Story: After the Rave (Death Maze)

The ex was starting to take effect on Keely. In the flashing, throbbing lights, she turned to her best friend and grinned.

"Did I tell you this place rocked?" Sapphire grinned back. "Let's dance some more!"

The two girls bounced their way back onto the dance floor, surrounded by noise, lights, and thumping music. Sapphire had been tuned into the rave scene by her new friends Xandra and Petal, and she'd been trying to get Keely to come along for weeks. Keely didn't like the thought of being out in some cold warehouse in the middle of nowhere, but the body heat of hundreds made her forget any misgivings. The booze, the music, and the cute guys (and girls) didn't hurt, either. Keely was dressed conservatively for this place, in jeans and an elegant summery top. Sapphire fit in better with her halter top and a short, slit skirt.

Sapphire said she hadn't seen Petal in some time, but Xandra was here tonight, with her friend Crystal. Soon, Sapphire and Keely found them on the dance floor, also tripping on ex, and all four were jumping and moving to the beat.

After a while, Xandra excused herself. "I'm off to the ladies' room," she screamed over the music. As emphasis, she held up a small coke vial in her necklace. "Anyone else?"

Sapphire nudged Keely. "Go on!" she said, grinning. Keely was nervous, but also curious. Xandra grabbed her hand and took her down a dark corridor and around a corner.

The music was as loud there as anywhere else. Keely thought she heard a squeak from Sapphire behind her, but as she turned, there was no one there. She shrugged and followed Xandra through a door into the dark restroom, lit mostly with black lights. Guess it's better if I can't see how "clean" it is, Keely thought.

Another girl was there, primping her frizzy hair in the mirror as best she could. "Zephyr, this is Keely," Xandra introduced them. "I'm going to do a little business, and I'll be right out," she told Keely with a wink. Xandra disappeared into a stall.

Zephyr smiled as she walked past Keely. She slipped out the door. A second later, there was a loud kick at the door. Even on ecstacy, Keely was startled. She tried pulling open the door to take a peek, but it wouldn't budge. Heavy door, she thought in her drunken state.

Then she heard the toilet flushing, followed by a loud, muffled shriek and a sound like a different door closing. "Xandra?" she said, uncertainly. No response. In the dark light, Keely couldn't see whether Xandra's feet were there under the stall. She approached cautiously. "Xandra, you okay?" she asked.

There was a click. Keely turned around groggily, starting to get strangely dizzy from the alcohol and ecstacy. Something was wrong. In the darkness, it looked like a section of the wall had opened up, and there was something dark, something human-sized... then, abruptly, she was punched in the stomach. "GUHH-" she gasped, as her breath was knocked out of her. Then the shape was behind her, a cloth was over her nose and mouth, a strange chemical odor. "Mmmph! Mmmmmmph!!" she shrieked, and then the world quickly went black.

########

Keely heard distressed voices, arguing. She realized it was light again. She was lying on something hard.

Slowly she opened her eyes and took a deep breath. "Sapphire-?" she groaned. "Is that you?"

"Great, this one's finally up," she heard a sharp female voice say sarcastically.

Then Sapphire was there. "I'm here, Keely," she said, voice quavering. "A bunch of us are. We don't know what happened."

Keely's vision cleared, and she could see Sapphire sitting beside her on a hard white floor. And Sapphire was naked. Keely was about to ask, then realized that she was naked, too. She gasped and curled up.

"I know. I ... we're all like that, don't worry," Sapphire said. "There's something -- something's happening."

Groggily, Keely got up to see three other girls, naked, standing about five feet away from a marble slab. One of them was Xandra. On the slab, tied spread-eagled, was Xandra's friend Crystal, eyes shut, face streaked with tears. Crystal was naked, too, with shapely breasts slumping off to either side.

Everyone looked worried, and as Keely glanced up, she could see why: suspended about eight feet above Crystal's torso was a metal plate with a matrix of thick spikes pointing downward.

"We woke up, and she was just there," Sapphire said. "Every time we move too close, the spikes come down another foot."

Keely surveyed the surroundings: a surreal, white walled room, about a 20 foot cube, with the marble slab offcenter. There was a doorway at each wall, but the one Keely could see best led down a few feet to a dead end. They all did, she would soon learn.

Keely got up. The spiked board lurched and dropped another foot. "OHHHH, GODDDD!" Crystal wailed.

A blonde with dark roots, perky breasts, and a perfect Brazilian wax job turned and pointed at Keely. "Stay there!" she snapped.

"That's Brittany. None of us know her, but Zephyr says she's seen her around," Sapphire whispered.

Keely nodded, trying to ignore her friend's nakedness. She had always admired Sapphire's body, not as slender as Keely's but therefore more voluptuous. Over Sapphire's shoulder, she could recognize Zephyr's frizzy dark hair. Zephyr had a dark pubic patch as well, and shapely breasts on an athletic frame.

The board lurched again, dropping about six inches. "Do something! Do something!" Crystal screamed.

"It's obviously a booby trap," Xandra said. "Maybe we just need to back away and take some time to think."

"She's just going to DIE if we don't do something," Brittany snapped. "Let's just go for it and untie her."

Again the board dropped six inches. "No! NOOO!" Crystal wailed.

"Every time we stepped closer, it dropped," Zephyr protested.

"Maybe it's not reacting to anything we do," Brittany said. "I say we get her out before - "

Suddenly, the board just dropped, as if cut loose. Crystal had enough time for the beginning of a scream before the spikes hit: "AIEEE--UNHHHHGGGGGGG!" Blood flowed surprisingly fast from her impaled body. Her eyes were wide open, and she tried lifting her head, as if trying to sit up. She made no further sound, but it was clear she was in agony. Her throat pulsed as if she were trying to scream in pain, but she had no lungs left to scream with.

All five girls screamed. Crystal's head thumped back to the slab with a cracking sound, and she quivered once or twice before falling still. Keely and Sapphire hugged and sobbed. Panic filled the room. Blood ran down the slab and disappeared into the floor, into unseen drainage slits along the base.

"Shut up! SHUT UP!" Brittany screamed.

It took a few minutes for the others to gain their composure. "It's your fault!" Zephyr said.

"Oh, go to hell," Brittany said. "Someone's fucking with us. They were going to kill her no matter what. We need to stay CALM and figure out what else in here might be dangerous."

"Screw that," Zephyr said. "We need to find a way out. One of these doorways might have a secret latch or something."

"That's stupid," Brittany said.

"Why else would they be there? We can at least try, right?" Zephyr said.

Crystal's death slab was toward what Keely thought of as the north of the room. All five girls were near the center of the room. Zephyr turned to the south doorway, away from Crystal, and strode into it, hands searching the walls. "I don't feel anything," she reported, as the others began crowding near the doorway.

Then there was a loud THUMP. Zephyr looked up, uncertain. "Guys?" she said, and her voice sounded muffled.

Keely reached forward and tapped. "It's some kind of glass. Like thick glass is covering the opening," she said. "It must have dropped from above."

Zephyr knocked on the glass with a fist. It was extremely clear, looking as if nothing were there, and too strong to crack. She could see the four girls' faces on the other side, three looking concerned, Brittany looking a little smug. "Look for a switch out there," Zephyr yelled. "See if you can open it back up."

Then she noticed the girls' faces changing, eyes wider, mouths opening. Zephyr felt a flash of fear. Was something happening to them? Then they started to scream and point. She looked behind her.

Spikes had grown out of the far wall of the corridor, and now that wall was moving closer. Zephyr was about to be impaled like Crystal was.

She turned and pounded harder. "Get me out. Get me out!" she yelled. She turned, but the wall was coming up fast. The spikes were in irregular patterns, leaving no way to simply turn to the side to avoid impalement. Zephyr's mind gave way to panic. She turned back to the girls, her breasts swaying dramatically, and pounded the glass again. The girls were yelling, maybe yelling advice, maybe just screaming. "DO SOMETHING!" Zephyr yelled back.

Zephyr felt the spikes prick her back. She squeezed forward as much as she could, arms upward, breasts pressed against the thick glass. She knew it wouldn't be enough. "oh god oh god oh g---aaaAAAAAIIEEEEEEEE!!!!"

Sapphire and Xandra turned away, but Keely and Brittany watched in horror as Zephyr was slowly impaled. Unlike Crystal, Zephyr had time to feel what was happening. The spikes burrowed through her flesh mercilessly, causing stabbing agony everywhere, in her arms and legs, her back, her chest. None of the girls saw, but one spike destined for Zephyr's skull pulled back into the wall, prolonging her agony.

Zephyr coughed and shrieked unintelligably. Her head was to the side now, face and breasts smashed against the glass. Tips of spikes began sticking out through her stomach, her legs, between her breasts. Her eyes were wild with agony and horror. A liquidy, gutteral grunt escaped her lips as her final breath was pushed from her bloodied lungs. Her body began mindlessly twitching and quivering in death throes, and that was too much for Keely. She backed off and sobbed, joining Xandra and Sapphire in their huddle.

Brittany seemed unaffected, even weary. She stared until Zephyr's corpse was still, then sighed. "You stupid cunts do whatever you want," she said, sitting on the floor away from them. "I'm staying right here."

Then there was a hissing sound. Vents opened up in the floor, and a thick white smoke began slowly drifting upward.

"Run!" Xandra shrieked.

"You saw what happened to her," Brittany said, pointing Zephyr's way. "I'm not moving."

The other girls stood up and began backing to the west wall, away from the smoke plumes. The stuff was spreading very slowly, moving like honey in water. And there was a smell of - food? Keely sniffed quickly, then her eyes went wide.

"Almonds," she said. "It's cyanide! GET OUT!"

She grabbed Sapphire and ran into the west corridor, not caring what awaited them there. Xandra hesitated, then followed. They turned back to see Brittany sitting defiantly. "If it was cyanide, I'd be dead now," she called out. "Like you're going to be in a second."

But Keely was right. This was a dilute, cyanide-based gas designed to spread slowly and thickly and to act only on close contact. As Brittany finished her taunt, a wisp of the smoke finally reached her mouth. She breathed it in, unknowing. She coughed and wheezed, puzzled. That caused her to breath in again, deeply -- and a mouthful of white smoke went into her lungs.

Brittany made a high-pitched squeaking noise as her windpipe convulsed shut. Her eyes widened as she clutched her throat. What was happening to her was actually worse than asphyxiation. As the burning slowly built in her lungs, she noticed her hands quivering uncontrollably. A nerve agent in the gas was sending her muscles into painful spasms.

Brittany suddenly dropped to the floor and began to convulse. Her arms and legs flailed violently, slamming against the floor. Her eyes were wide in horror, her mind still conscious enough to feel the growing pain in her lungs and to realize that she had no control over her body, or her death.

Her back kept arching backwards, as if she were trying to hogtie herself. Her firm breasts jutted forward, skin stretched so tight as to render them almost immobile as she twisted hideously. The girls heard a sickening crack as one of Brittany's verterbrae gave way under the stress. Her wide eyes rolled back in her head. Her face was darkening, turning purple. Her tongue jutted outwards, so discolored it was almost black. Her body continued to pulse in horrifying spasms. It would take her five more minutes to die of asphyxiation. Mercifully, the three remaining girls wouldn't be there to see it.

They sobbed helplessly, wondering when the gas would reach them. But then the floor dropped from under them.

All three shrieked as they fell about ten feet and landed in a pile. Keely looked upward and saw the ceiling close back up.

They were in another corrider, a wider one, extending about ten feet in either direction, with a door at either end, one smooth, one somehow bumpy. Keely swallowed hard, trying not to equate the long rectangular shape with a coffin.

"Now what?" Sappire said, shivering.

There was a twang, and a THUNK, and the girls were startled to see an arrow sticking out of one wall. Keely looked back to the other wall. A small circular opening had appeared.

Then she saw one appear in the wall across from Xandra. "Duck!" Keely yelled. She tackled Xandra out of the way just as the arrow whizzed past and buried itself in the wall.

More circles opened up in the walls near them. "DOWN!" Keely yelled, but Sapphire, still on her knees, wasn't quick enough. There was a sick SHUNK! sound as an arrow buried itself into her hip.

"Aaahhh!" Sapphire wailed. Instinctively, she sat further up on her knees, arms moving towards the arrow in her side. But that exposed her torso to the wall.

Keely turned just in time to see: SHUNK! SHUNK! The next volley of arrows launched. One sank midway into Sapphire's left breast, through the nipple. Another caught her shoulder. SHUNK! SHUNK! Two more buried deeply into her right breast.

"NO!" Keely screamed. She crawled back to help, but it was too late. Sapphire looked down at her voluptuous, pierced breasts, at the blood rapidly tricking from her wounds. All she felt was the stabbing pain, and an animal fear as her body began drifting into shock.

"Ahhhh," Sapphire whispered, paralyzed in fear. "Aaannnnhhhhh....."

She fell back against the wall, her chest even more exposed.

SHUNK!SHUNK!SHUNK! Three more arrows struck, this time in the middle of her chest. One deflected off her breastbone, but the other two sank home, into Sapphire's heart and lungs. It all happened so quickly. Keely finally reached Sapphire and dragged her down by the wrist, but it was too late. Sapphire's eyes already had that distant glaze, and she was barely breathing.

"Love ... you......." Sapphire muttered. Then her eyes lost focus, and Keely could see the life leave them. The girl Keely had known as a friend had become something else, a slab of meat clinging instinctively to life. Sapphire's body began to spasm and quiver. She gurgled loudly one time as her body coughed up a mouthful of blood, then she was still, staring blankly into space.

Keely sobbed. But she didn't have time to mourn. Over Sapphire's shoulder, she saw the door lifting at the corridor's end. Behind it were the barrels of rifles. A dozen guns, sitting on shelves of varying heights, pointed at her. A matrix of death. Lying on the floor, standing, sitting, it didn't matter, she'd be a viable target.

"Come ON!" Keely heard, and she turned to face the other direction. Xandra, standing, tears in her eyes. She had seen Sapphire's death, too, but she was now near the door at the other end of the corridor. "Just get up! Let's open this door!" Xandra yelled.

Whimpering, Keely realized she was probably dead no matter what she did. She got up and sprinted the few feet to Xandra, towards the bumpy door. Keely could now see that it had two rows of rungs running up its length, the rows set about shoulder width apart.

Xandra was crying. "There might just be more guns behind this door, but... it's our only chance..." she said. "I'll try to open it."

Keely nodded slowly, mournfully. She realized Xandra expected to die opening this door.

Xandra grabbed a rung with her left hand and pulled. Nothing. Then she grabbed with her right ... and that closed the circuit. To Xandra, there was a loud throbbing buzz in her ears. She felt both hands clench. She tasted blood. Her eyes rolled back and she could no longer see. Neither could she breathe. Pain and heat enveloped her body.

Keely screamed as she watched the girl electrocute. Xandra's muscles had all tightened, and her body was tensely quivering in every direction at once, it seemed. Blood gushed through her clenched teeth, as she had bitten her tongue apart. Her eyes were white, and gone. There was a smell of ... meat ...

Suddenly, it was done. Xandra's hands let go and her body fell backwards and down, into a heap at Keely's feet. Keely shrieked and backed away, to a spot between Xandra and Sapphire. She screamed twice more, wailing pointlessly in fear, exhaustion, and despair, then crumpled into a ball. She was going to die. She sobbed and waited.

Several minutes passed, maybe even an hour.

When Keely was able to control her breathing, she realized everything was silent. She dared to look up. The doorway with all the guns was still opened, still threatening.

In the other direction, the runged door that had killed Keely was now swung open. Some kind of large room was on the other side.

Keely heard a loud report. A gun had fired. She turned to see the last wisp of smoke from one of the top guns in the rack -- and then another shot as another gun fired near the ceiling. She had no choice. Keeping low, she scurried on all fours through the open door, careful not to touch it.

Once she was through, the door slammed loudly, and echoed. Keely was in total darkness. Carefully, she stood. She could feel no wall, no ceiling. She felt herself starting to panic.

Then, light. A doorway opened just a crack, maybe 30 feet ahead of her, letting in a dim light. Keely could vaguely see she was in a large, empty room, like a warehouse. She was too tired to reason or fight. She began walking towards the door.

Something brushed her shoulder. She jumped, but the light was too dim to make anything out. Then something against her breast. "OH!" she shrieked. She swallowed hard, then began walking faster towards the door as more objects began hitting her shoulders. "No, no!" she cried. She prepared to start a full sprint --

Then her feet hit air. Something pressed against the front of her throat. Keely's hands went instinctively for her neck, and she felt a rope there.

Suddenly, lights came on overhead. Around her, Keely could see a forest of ropes, wide nooses dangling from the ceiling. It was only a matter of time before she'd stepped into one. It had tightened and was now lifting her up.

Too late, Keely realized she was hanging. Her fingers clawed to try to get under the rope, but the noose had tightened. Her breathing was a heavy rasp.

Keely, still ascending but more slowly now, reached for the rope above her. But she couldn't grasp it, and she didn't have any strength left to pull herself up. She couldn't breathe at all now, not in or out. Her legs began to bicycle kick, as if trying to escape on their own. This shook her body at the end of the rope. Her soft breasts bobbled and danced.

Keely began to feel a gnawing pain in her lungs. She wanted to cry out for help. She wanted to scream. No sound. She kept trying to thrust her head back, as if to loosen the rope, but in reality her head didn't move at all, except to begin cocking to one side. Keely was unaware of just how wide her mouth was open as she gulped in vain for air. But then she felt her thick tongue begin to slide out over her lips, and she knew. It sent a dagger of horror deep into her heart.

Keely's eyes turned upwards, and she thought she saw a glint of glass. A lens? Was she being watched? Had there been other cameras, hidden away? Had the girls been mere entertainment, dying for the pleasure of unseen spectators?

It didn't matter. Keely was in agony, her lungs ablaze. She saw the world double up as her eyes began to cross, and that horrible sight was the final sensation of her oxygen-starved mind. Her head dipped forward as her tongue extended even further, as black as Brittany's had been. Her legs stiffened straight downwards as her body began to violently shake in its death spasms.

When it was done, Keely's legs were still straight and stiff, like toothpicks, feet just slightly apart. Her arms also jutted stiffly downwards. Her crossed eyes stared upwards at nothing. The party was finally, truly, over.
