Madame Rebecca

Archer

For those who don't frequent Necrobabes, "Nick" is Carrie in drag.

"It's nothing but hooey!" Gabriella informed her rommate with uncharacteristic
ferocity.

"Look!  All I'm saying is be careful!" Carrie answered defensively.
Carrie was more concerned for her roommate's welfare than for winning this
spat.

'What could happen?" Gabriella asked, her tone indicating that the only
answer was absolutely nothing.  "This Madame Rebecca is just a quack,"
she added softly.  She paused for just a moment, but when Carrie opened
her moouth to reply, Gabriella cut her off.  "I'll be okay!"

"Hey, I love you.  Just be careful, okay?" Carrie said, knowing
that the discussion had already ended.

II

Gabriella hadn't expected Madame Rebecca to agree to the test, particularly
after the mention of those two arrests for fraud.  But Madame Rebecca
had surprised Gabriella by dismissing two guests (obviously shills!) and
inviting Gabriella to join her on live television.

Madame Rebecca turned addressed the studio audience.  "I'm sure
you all know my guest Gabriella, the national television correspondent.
She wants to test my power.  She doesn't believe..."

Gabriella found Madame Rebecca's patronizing tone to be terribly tiresome.
"Damn straight.  This woman is nothing but a fraud..."

"The challenge is this," Madame Rebecca continued, ignoring the rude
interruption.  "I will hypnotise Gabriella right now.  I I fail,
I will admit here on live television that I'm nothing but a fraud, just
as she claims I am."  Madame Rebecca took out her pocket watch and
let it swing like a pendulum.

After watching the watch for about ten seconds, Gabriella shouted out,
"See!  It's just like I said.  She's nothing but a fraud."
Turning to Madame Rebecca, she said, "Give it up.  Admit that I've..."
Madame Rebecca cur her off with a snap of the fingers.  Gabriella
now stared blankly off into space.

"A fraud, eh?" Madame Rebecca asked.  Gabriella was now strangely
silent.  "When I snap my fingers, you will remove my shoes and kiss
my feet.  Do you understand, Gabriella, my precious slave?"

"Yes, mistress, I understand," replied Gabriella in a voice that seemed
unearthly.  When Madame Rebecca snapped her fingers, Gabriella removed
Madame Rebecca's tennis shoes and proceeded to kiss Madame Rebecca's feet.

"The socks!  Take them off, you idiot.  I want you to kiss
my bare feet!"

"Yes, Mistress," Gabriella answered as she removed her new mistress's
white crew socks.  As soon as she had done that she started reverently
kissing her mistress's feet.

"Kiss them as you would kiss a man's penis," Madame Rebecca ordered.
Normally she wouldn't give such an order, but this reporter had questioned
her reputation.  She would pay dearly for this challenge.

Gabriella obeyed without question.  When one of the television
studio crewman asked, "Can we show this on national TV?", his boss replied,
"Damn it, Tom!  Keep the camera rolling!"

After several minutes of unimaginably obscene foot kissing, Madame Rebecca
gave new orders.  "Now stand up slave and slowly strip for the camera."

The were giggles from the audience when the crewman said, "Now Betsy,
I know we can't show this."  Everyone heard the answer just as Gabrella's
skirt fell to the floor:  "Will you shut up, Tom!  Just keep
the damn camera rolling!"

"Now your bra... but slowly... as you would remove it for your lover,"
Madame Rebecca cooed.

The audience fell silent as her bra came off and was cast aside.

"Don't you just love those boxer shorts?" Madame Rebecca asked the audience
drawing howls of laughter.

"Yes, mistress, I love my boxer shorts," Gabriella replied in that unearthly
tone of voice.  The audience roared even louder.  Even Madame
Rebecca almost lost her composure.

"Take them off and make love to them, then," she said.  "You and
your boxer shorts are true lovers..."

The audience was so shocked by Gabriella's obedience that they watched
the comic scene in complete silence.

Madame Rebecca turned to the audience.  "Okay, people, I wan't
you to pretend that absolutely nothing happened -- trust me on this!"
She turned back to Gabriella and ordered her to put her clothes back on.
When Gabriella had complied, she then said, "Gabriella, when I snap my
fingers, you will forget all that happened here while you were under my
power.  You will remember none of this!"  Madame Rebecca snapped
her fingers.

"So admit it, 'Madame Rebecca', you're nothing but a fraud."

"I admit I'm nothing but a fraud," Madame Rebecca replied with a calmness
that surprised Gabriella.  "Well, that's all the time we have tonight,
folks.  Tune in next week when my guests are Bailee Arnett, Nick Lance
and the Amazing Mandy."

Gabriella looked at her watch and was surprised that the show was over.
It had seemed like mere seconds.

III

When Gabriella returned home that evening, Carrie was gone.  "I can't
take another one of the phone calls!" was all the note said.  The
telephone and answering machine lay by the wall, both smashed.

IV

The next morning, Gabriella went to the studio to write up her story for
the noon news report.  She was completely taken off guard by the strange
stares that greeted her.  "But it's a great story," she thought.
"Why are they acting like I'm minutes away from being fired?"

She was especially taken aback when the security guard Peter approached
her.  "Sorry ma'am, but I have to watch as you empty your desk."

Gabriella burst into tears.  "Why?"

No one answered.

As she left the building, she was approached by her rival Zoe.
"You really don't know, do you?" Zoe asked, her tone revealing a completely
uncharacteristic concern.  She handed Gabriella a video tape.
"It' s last night's Hypno Show.  I think you'll undestand...
Look, I have a few friends over at KICK news -- it's not national, but
they aren't quite so stuffy and image-minded...  In a few years, all
this will blow over and you and I can be bitter rivals again...  Hey,
girl, I gotta run.   Lunch with the VIP's, you know.  Take
care!"

V

Madame Rebecca was not surprised when Gabriella showed up at her door with
the video tape and a knife.  But, with a snap of the fingers, Gabriella
was out of her clothes.  "Nice knife," Madame Rebecca said quite honestly.
"You will now proceed to demonstrate on yourself exactly what you intended
to do to me."

Gabriella forced the knife into her belly.

Madame Rebecca snapped her fingers again.  "I do want you to feel
the pain," the evil and sadistic woman explained to her victim.

Epilogue

Carrie was ashamed of herself for abandoning Gabriella in her time of greatest
need -- and her shame became fury when the district attorney said that
he simply couldn't press charges.  A week later, Carrie kidnapped
up-and-coming actor Nick Lance, imprisoned him in her apartment, and stole
his clothes.  She appeared on Madame Rebecca's show dressed as Nick
Lance.  When Madame Rebecca was busy hypnotising guest Bailee Arnett,
Nick, or rather Carrie stood up with a handgun and fired a shot into Madame
Rebecca's brain.

The evil hypnotist had died quickly.  Carrie was captured by two
security guards just as she attempted to get rid of the disguise.
Because of her attempt to frame Nick Lance for the crime, the district
attorney sought the death penalty.  The jury agreed.  Her case
is currently being appealed in the state courts.
