Linda - a Poem

Linda

O Linda, where have you gone?
My love for you is strong though fraught with fear and pain.
Our plans, our lives have gone beyond
To lands where dreams lie fallow,
Our love ne’er more shall reign.
O Linda, where have you gone?

I fear for you today,
And have no wish to see you die though you pursue it fain
That dream of death perhaps you seek.
I could not, dared not, follow.
Our love ne’er more shall reign,
I fear for you today.

But why stay you this course?
When life and love so strong I wish, I have for you in vain
Yet other pleasures still you seek
Perhaps with lovers shallow,
Our love ne’er more shall reign.
But why stay you this course?

The pain it wracks me still,
Why you did leave so quick and my love still in pain,
Lies in our bed deserted still
For pleasures that are hollow?
Our love ne’er more shall reign?
The pain it wracks me still.

And yet I live here still,
E’en though you’re gone away. Why work I more for gain?
When there is none for me to care
My life for me is sallow,
With love ne’re more to reign.
And yet I live here still.

And yet I live here still.
